How many people can be on a team?

There is no limit, however it is hard to have a large number of people working on one robot, you may want to consider starting another team if you have too many members.

What is the cost for each competition?

There is no cost per competition sponsored by MRL, only the annual fee of $175 which covers all the competitions for the year. BBIQ Competition is a separate event with costs of their own.

I am interested in starting a team but am not sure how to proceed. What should I do?

You can sign up for a Teacher Training class by visiting BattleBotsIQ or email deb@midwestroboticsleague.org to inquire about any local Teacher Training classes.

Does the team need to have a certified teacher as a coach?

No. Some teams have teachers as coaches & use the curriculum for an elective class or your team may choose to have this as an after school extra curricular event, therefore not necessarily needing a teacher.  Many of the teams have parents volunteer to coach a team.

Are we required to use an Isaac system for our robot?

No. You may use one if you would like but a regular RC is okay.

Can anyone come to watch a competition?

Yes.  There is an annual spectator fee of $15.  This includes a Midwest Robotics League t-shirt, and allows the spectator entrance for all competitions through the school year.

Can our school have more than one team?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of teams a school has.

Would it be possible for someone to come to our school to talk to the faculty/students about starting a robot team?

Yes. Contact Deb Holmes at 612-804-3314 or email her at deb@midwestroboticsleague.org.

Where do I find the rules for competition?

Go to the BattleBotsIQ. We will follow their rules except we do not require you to use an Isaac system.
